The GUT Guide

Earlier year I was experiencing terrible headaches and stress. I was prescribed a strong NSAID to help. As this did help my headaches it reaked HAVOC on my stomach causing terrible aches and heartburn to the point where sleeping became difficult.

After numerous trips to the doctor and another course of prilosec I was at a loss on how to fix my gut. NOTHING was working. Everything was upsetting my stomach and my body wasn't properly absorbing the nutrients I needed.

My friend told me to visit a naturopathic doctor and it was the BEST decision I have ever made. Upon going we sat down for an hour and discussed all of my aches pains and lifestyle. At the end of my session she gave me a list a vitamin drink, probiotic, and suggested aloe water. Sounds a little funky right? Almost instantly after introducing this into my routine I began to feel like myself again. I was so shocked and happy that I get so excited when sharing this story.

If you struggle with heartburn or your gut feels off talk to a naturopath and try introducing some of these products.

I was skeptical too don't worry. Aloe? The stuff I rub on a sunburn? YES. You can grab this drink at a Whole Foods, Jewel, and most stores now days. It tastes a lot like bubble tea and actually tastes really good. It is anti-inflammatory, and very soothing for our stomach and esophagus. It is known for helping heartburn and on top of that, it is VERY hydrating and filled with nutrients!

The way my naturopath described it to me is our stomach acid is very hot. It is very hot because it is meant to kill off bad bacteria before it enters our gut! Because of this a lot of probiotics we see on the shelf or advertised in food don't effectively make it down to our gut because our stomach acid kills it off in the process. A probiotic with a spore base is more likely to make it to our gut because it has a better chance of living through the stomach acid. The doctor will sell this brand cheaper than a retailer if you make an appointment, but if you want to skip the appointment Amazon does offer an option to buy this brand. It is a very good brand so it is not something you can grab off the shelf at walgreens.

Thorne is another vitamin brand that is known for being top of the line and really good. This powder is mixed with water and helps soothe the stomach and esophagus as well. It tastes SO GOOD, like a sorbet. It promotes colon health, inflammatory balance, healthy GI Tract, sooeths the muscuos membrane of Leaky Gut, and is made pure free of gluten soy, shelfish, dairy, yeast, tree nuts, peanuts and many other allergens. Go Thorne on this one!

My doctor actually had me read this book on how our blood types actually are affected by different foods. So basically what a type A bloodtype needs may be different than what a blood type B needs. Now everyone is unique so take it with a grain of salt but if you can't narrow down what in your diet is irritating you, checkout this book to see if it can make a difference in your diet. It is fascinating.
